Arts & Crafts Support YDMT
November 11, 2013
The annual Gargrave Autumn Art & Crafts Exhibition has helped to raise more than £1,000 for local charities, including us!
Featuring a variety of artwork and handicrafts including paintings, drawings, jewellery, accessories and knitted products, the exhibition showcased some of the high quality arts and crafts created by local people of all ages.
The four-day event was well attended, attracting more than 500 visitors during the course of the exhibition, and raising over £1,000 for local charities, to be split between YDMT the NSPCC and Gargrave Village Hall.
We like to say a huge thank you to Alan, Peter and all the team at Gargrave Arts & Crafts for their very generous donation of £400 to support the work of YDMT!

YDMT Director David Sharrod is presented with a cheque for £400 by Alan Poxon and Peter McCormick from Gargrave Art & Crafts
Alan Poxon, Chairman of the Gargrave Art & Crafts Committee, commented: “I’m relieved that the event has proven successful once again, when so many exhibitions this year have failed to meet expectations in these financially difficult times. We are so very well-supported by our artists and craftspeople, and are fortunate and grateful to have so many talented people amongst us, and along with our many voluntary helpers, it makes putting on the show relatively easy. Once the public see the content of the show, it is inevitable that they come back and buy something lovely.”
YDMT had our own stall at the event selling homemade greetings cards and knitted socks and tea cosies (all donated by supporters of the Trust!), as well our range of cards, books and jigsaws.
Combined with the £400 donation, and sales revenue generated from attending the Summer exhibition as well, we’ve raised in excess of £700 with the help of the Gargrave Arts & Crafts Committee in 2013 – an incredible total that will go a long way towards supporting our work caring for the local landscape, environment and communities.
Thank you!!
