Helping you ‘take it back home’
December 21, 2009
YDMT run the People and the DALES project, which is helping disadvantaged and disabled people who live in urban areas to come to the Dales and enjoy different activities in our beautiful countryside. We also hope to inspire people who have been involved to spend more time in the great outdoors, reaping the many benefits that fresh air and excercise brings.
You can view our Taking it home leaflet Bradford here which gives some advice and useful contacts to help you organise outdoor activities where you live. More information will be available soon from our website www.ydmt.org but please bear with us though as we’re currently snowed-out of our offices and are not able to update our website!
Gail, our People and the DALES project officer says, “once you’ve been out on a visit or two to the Yorkshire Dales with YDMT’s People and the DALES you might like to think about things you can do in the outdoors back home. This could be anything from getting out into your local park, a walk with a walking group in a green space near you, to getting involved in some conservation or environmental work with a local group – helping to make your local area a better place for everyone.
To help you find contacts we have put together a leaflet called ‘Taking it back home’ which gives you a few ideas of where to start and groups to get in touch with. The first leaflet has focused on Bradford and District, leaflets for Leeds and NE Lancashire will follow over the course of the project. There are two versions of the Bradford leaflet on our website one you can read online and one to print off to make a leaflet.”
We would love to hear your stories and see pictures of any work or trips you are involved in. For more information contact gail.smith@ydmt.org
