Keep on running for the Dales
April 16, 2012
On 16th September 2012, YDMT’s very own Jo Boulter is taking on the iconic challenge of the Great North Run to raise money for the Trust!
Jo has never done anything like this before. In fact Jo hates running(!), so this really is going to be a tough personal challenge.
Jo said “As a non-runner, I’m building up my strength and stamina very gradually. I’ve been going for short runs around the village where I live for the last three weeks and, although I still can’t run very far before I collapse in exhaustion, I am definitely getting a little bit further every time I go out. It is still rather scary to think that I’ve got to ramp it up to 13.1miles by 16th September though!”
Jo added “It’s my 50th birthday this summer, so I’ve come up with a little mantra to help motivate myself; ‘Fit – not fat – at fifty!’. My aim is to drop a dress size in time for my birthday, and then continue my good habits into September for the Great North Run. Who knows… maybe by then I’ll be a running convert and there’ll be no stopping me!”.
We’re all really rooting for Jo and will be really proud when she is crossing the finish having accomplished her first half marathon. Go Jo!
We rely on people like Jo, and you, to help raise funds which will enable us to continue vital work across the Yorkshire Dales, including restoring wildflower meadows, planting new native woodlands, supporting local businesses, education and outreach work, providing training programmes for young local people…and much more. So if, like Jo, you’re running the Great North Run, or maybe you’re taking part in another event, please think about donating your sponsorship money to the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust. Or if not you could even sponsor our very own Jo online at https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/joboulter1 Thank You!
