Fresh air, fun and funky beats

February 23, 2011

On Saturday 14th May the Yorkshire hills will be alive with the sound of drumming, as members of the community band Batala Lancaster push themselves to the limit, hauling their (very large and very heavy) drums up hill and down dale as they take on the Three Peaks challenge to raise money for YDMT (thank you so much guys!).

And that’s not all… Other members of Batala Lancaster will be working together with YDMT to run drumming workshops for community groups and local school children in the morning, sharing their passion for authentic Brazilian samba-reggae drum music.  In the afternoon there will be free gigs at Ingleborough Caves, Gaping Gill, and – for the grand finale – on the summit of Ingleborough (see timings below).

Everyone is welcome, so come along to Clapham from 1.30pm on 14th May and immerse yourself in Brazilian culture through this exciting fusion of rhythm, movement and costume. You could maybe even have a go!

If you would like to make a donation, you can sponsor the Batala Lancaster team online at www.justgiving.com/MountainDrumming/, where you will also find more information about the day.
