People’s Postcode Lottery Visit YDMT in the Dales

On Monday 6th June YDMT welcomed Clara and Annemiek from the People’s Postcode Lottery to the Yorkshire Dales.
It was the first time either had been to this part of the world, and we were happy to see that they were both really impressed with the scenery. We were blessed with sunny weather which really helped to show the Dales off to their best!
YDMT has received over £225,000 from the charity lottery to date. This unrestricted income is vitally important to YDMT – it allows to do more than ever before to help to protect the environmental, social and economic wellbeing of the Yorkshire Dales.
We started the day in Clapham Village Hall where we were joined by some of the great people we work with to deliver our projects, as well as some of the local people benefiting from our work. After lunch (a lovely spread laid on by Clapham’s Reading Room) and presentations about YDMT and PPL, we had a lovely mingling session with our guests before heading off to Growing with Grace – just one of the many projects in the Dales supported by YDMT.
Growing with Grace is an organic farm shop in Clapham which produces and sells organic veg and compost. We also saw the Bio-diesel tank. The tour was really interesting and Annemeik even had the chance to sample some of the home-grown corrots straight from the ground. – you don’t get fresher (and tastier!) than that!)
Then we gave our guests from People’s Postcode Lottery a guided tour of our little corner of the Yorkshire Dales, stopping for photo opportunities and highlighting the many projects that YDMT has supported as we drove past.

We met Dorothy Fairburn, YDMT Vice Chairman of Trustees, for champagne and nibbles with the ultimate view on Winskill Stones above Settle. Perfect!
We finished off with local fayre at The Lion in Settle.
