The new Scout and Community centre in Ingleton that the Trust helped to fund

On Saturday, David Sharrod (our Director) was at the grand opening of Mealbank Hall, which is a brand new Scout and Community Hall in Ingleton. The Trust support lots of projects run by rural communities throughout the Dales. It’s always very satifying to see the finished result – and no more so than Saturday. Here’s a few words from David about the event.

“I was asked to pass on thanks to everyone at Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust for the help given to build and equip Mealbank Hall, the new Scout and community centre in Ingleton. There was a jolly opening ceremony last Saturday with what seemed  half  of the village there.

This has been a remarkable and genuine community effort; it took Carl Lis (one of YDMT’s Trustees) 15 minutes just to list and thank everyone from raffle-ticket sellers to local contractors who had given time and materials.

We grant-aided £55k to the project using funding from North Yorkshire Aggregate Grants Scheme (NYAGS) and Sustainable Development Fund (SDF). Carl left us until last in the list for a very special thanks.”
