Three Peaks still need your help to win €30,000!

March 18, 2011

YDMT are trying to secure €30,000 to spend working with the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority to help maintain and repair sections of the Three Peaks route.  This substantial sum of money, provided by the European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA), is up for grabs in a competition which is underway right now at www.lfto.com/conservation .

Pen-y-ghent

We applied for the funding from the EOCA, and beat off 62 other projects to reach the final four!  Now the Three Peaks project needs the support of the public in an online vote that will decide which of the four finalists should receive the funding. Voting is open from now until 23rd March at www.lfto.com/conservation and everyone is welcome to cast their vote to support their favourite scheme.  If you haven’t already voted, please do it today! …And if you have, please mention it to your friends, family and colleagues – every single vote will help!

David Sharrod, YDMT Director, commented “Thousands of people enjoy the Three Peaks every year, and we believe that this project would be a truly deserving winner of this vital funding boost that would allow us work with the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority to protect this special route, now and for the future. It won’t be possible without this funding, so we need everyone who loves the three peaks to go online and vote for the Yorkshire Three Peaks Route – it only takes a moment and every single vote counts.”

If the bid is successful, we would work with the National Park Authority to improve access and restore habitats on a badly eroded stretch of the Three Peaks route between Pen-Y-Ghent and Ribblehead through High Birkwith.  But the project won’t be possible without this crucial funding boost.
